Alexandra Harwood has composed the score for Staatstheater Ballet’s ‘Dracula’, premiering 18th April at The Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe.
“Bram Stoker’s legendary vampire rises again, this time as a 21st-century fashion god, feeding on youth, beauty and talent to satisfy his hunger for eternity. In a world of genius, ambition and seduction, desire and obsession spiral toward self-destruction and the longing for eternal love.
British choreographer Kenneth Tindall, one of the most compelling voices of his generation, makes his Germany debut with this full-length narrative ballet. Developed together with writer and historian Ian Kelly, the concept and scenario reimagine the Dracula myth through the lens of the modern fashion world. With an original score by Alexandra Harwood, performed live by the Badische Staatskapelle, “Dracula” continues the Staatsballett Karlsruhe’s focus on powerful storytelling ballet theatre.”
