Joris de Man is a double Ivor Novello award winning Composer and Sound Designer for Games, TV and Film, with nearly two decades of games industry experience and a thorough knowledge of the technicalities of in-game implementation and scoring to picture.
His work includes composing for Sony Playstation 4’s Horizon: Zero Dawn for which he received his second Ivor Novello award for Best Original Video Game Score, the animated feature film Chuck Steel: Night of the Trampires by Bafta winning director Mike Mort, the hugely popular mobile title Vainglory by SuperEvilMegaCorp, music for Killzone 1, 2 & 3 and Killzone Liberation on the PSP, music and sound design for MTV’s Codehunters which was used on the MTV Music Awards in Asia and sound design for the Bafta winning short Fetch.
The score for Killzone 2 won Joris his first Ivor Novello award for Best Original Video Games Score and Killzone 3, which was recorded at Abbey Road Studios with a top London Session Orchestra, was nominated for a Music & Sound Award for Best Video Game Score, and won the award for Best Audio Design at the Dutch Game Awards. Its title song ‘And Ever We Fight On’ received three quarter of a million combined views on Youtube.
Joris also has a longstanding relationship with indie developer Futurlab, including music and sound design for titles such as the TIGA award winning Velocity 2X, Velocity Ultra, Velocity and Surge Deluxe.
Other works include mobile games such as Red Robot’s Life is Magic, Relentless’ Furby Boom and Quiz climber, various commercials for companies such Pepsi, Toyota and Blizzard (World of Warcraft), provided sound design and mixing for EA’s Need for Speed; Most Wanted trailers and the modern dance project ‘Charlie Goes Home’ which toured through the Netherlands and Germany.
