Jessica Dannheisser is an Ivor Novello nominated composer based in London. Her recent scores include the 2022 BAFTA-nominated sci-fi drama series Silverpoint, the BBC drama adaptation of the novel A Kind of Spark, and series 3 of Acorn TV’s Whitstable Pearl.
Jessica is a pianist and studied composition at Oxford University with the composer Robert Saxton (although she also spent a lot of time there composing music for student plays). Her passion for film and literature was always a driving force and whilst her work has a strong grounding in classical training and orchestration, her musical palette is broad, and it is her love of storytelling in music that shines through.
Further projects include BAFTA-winning BBC One drama-documentary Suffragettes with Lucy Worsley and critically-acclaimed CNN/BBC production Race For The Vaccine that followed five teams across the world attempting to develop a vaccine to combat COVID 19.
Jessica composed the score for the six-part wildlife series Secret Safari: Into The Wild narrated by Andrew Scott and she has collaborated on several of David Attenborough’s projects, including composing the score for Sky VR’s groundbreaking virtual reality experience Hold The World and orchestrating the score for A Perfect Planet.
Orchestral Portraits: Seven Pioneering Women, Jessica’s debut album, was recorded at Abbey Road Studios and released in March 2020 in celebration of International Women’s Day. She is currently working on a follow up in this series. Jessica’s work in theatre includes the 2019 large-scale theatrical production The Incredible Tale of Robot Boy, a show about the ethics of artificial intelligence, scientific testing, and parenthood.
Jessica has collaborated with many artists to bring film scores and albums to life, including The Haxan Cloak (on his Ivor-winning score for Midsommar and forthcoming Beau Is Afraid), Mica Levi (on Jackie), Ilan Eshkeri, The Cinematic Orchestra, and Kasabian (Velociraptor! 48:13, London Boulevard).
