
Chris is an award-winning composer and multi-instrumentalist whose signature sound combines a fresh, experimental approach to acoustic instruments with a contemporary edge. As a pianist and string player, Chris draws on his background in contemporary classical music, mixing a string/piano-based palette with a web of electronic and instrumental textures, always working tirelessly to build a distinctive sound from scratch for each project.
Recent work includes scoring The Salt Path starring Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs, the MGM+ series Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue, both series of Jed Mercurio’s Trigger Point, starring Vicky McClure, Netflix’s Surviving Black Hawk Down, the Sky Nature series Airborne, narrated by Keeley Hawes, Georgia Oakley’s debut film Blue Jean and the BBC thriller series WOLF, starring Iwan Rheon, Sacha Dhawan and Juliet Stevenson.
Further credits include National Geographic’s The Devil’s Climb and Arctic Ascent with Alex Honnold, the Mammoth Screen produced Grime Kids, Netflix’s Robbie Williams documentary series, ITV’s Payback, starring Morven Christie and Peter Mullan, Whale with Steve Backshall, Stewart, the feature length documentary about Sir Jackie Stewart and Aleem Khan’s BAFTA-winning film After Love, for which Chris won Best Original Score (Les Arcs Film Festival), and was nominated for Best Original Score at the Ivor Novello Awards.
Chris has also worked on a number of natural history projects including Shark for Sky Nature, and has collaborated with director David Fairhead on several feature documentaries including Armstrong, Spitfire, Mission Control and the upcoming feature Lancaster. These have earnt Chris three Music and Sound Award nominations over three consecutive years.
Chris studied music at Manchester University after which he went on to the Royal College of Music in London on a scholarship, graduating top of his year with the Adrian Cruft Prize. He also spent time studying electronic music in Paris at the renowned IRCAM institute.
